"For my birthday last spring, my brother and sister-inlaw gave me a vintage Southern porch swing – the kind that invites you to take a load off, drink a cold glass of lemonade and talk for hours. Thinking how much our grandchildren would love the swing, we hung it from a trellis in our back yard. We swing on it almost every Wednesday. One day as the swinging began Sadie said, “why don’t we take turns writing songs while we are swinging?” And we did just that. Now every time we go outside to swing we make up songs. We belly laugh at the silliness and often we’re in awe of what comes out - sometimes to the tune of a familiar song with new words and sometimes no tune at all."
