"I've been challenging myself to recycle materials and approach art with the joy and innocence of my roots as an artist. For this series I've been doing encaustic abstract paintings on scrap wood panels (coated with encaustic gesso). Then I cut the panels into random sizes and rearrange the pieces into animal shapes. The ears are old nails my friend saves for me from a Charleston house renovation."
